Your bundle of joy could be cranky and irritated due to a simple rash. A baby’s delicate skin is prone to different types of rashes but fortunately, most of them are non-contagious and harmless. In fact, some types of skin rashes don’t need medication and heal on their own.
“The causes for most of skin rashes in babies are different. However, low immunity as well as the effect of maternal hormones on the newborn’s skin in the womb is a major factors,” says Dr Apratim Goel, Dermatologist, MD, DNB, FAGE, Mumbai.
Dr. Reshma Shetty, Dermatologist, Mumbai adds, “A baby develops skin rashes due to various reasons. Sometimes they are allergic to clothes, a new bed sheet or even their mother’s milk. Some kids are hyper sensitive to drugs too. But most rashes are either infectious or non-infectious.”
