Can you ever picture a society where children are free from exploitation and receive free and quality education? Seems like a far-fetched dream, doesn't it? But that does not deter organisations like Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) from taking up a cause that most of us tend to brush under the carpet. Yes, we're talking about child prostitution! Did you know that almost 40 girls under the age of 15 years are forced into prostitution every day in India? We didn't, until we stumbled upon this shocking ad campaign created by the NGO.
The ad campaign designed by Bachpan Bachao Andolan is a shocking revelation of how young girls are forced into prostitution almost every single day. The video begins with a small girl dressed in a frock, her hair done up in plaits, trying to cross a busy street. You may initially assume that she is scared of crossing the road on her own, but what follows next will not just depress you, but also break your heart. After the little gir l has managed to cross the road, she finds herself standing outside a car whose owner is at the wheel. It's the moment of truth when she gets into the car, and the man hands over a bar of chocolate to her and rests his hand on her thigh.
We think the background score captures the mood way too perfectly but leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth.
