Birthday parties in recent times are big affairs. Gone are the days when you would call in a few neighborhood kids, get some chips and snacks from the neighborhood supermarket, cut the cake (most likely from the above mentioned super market) and call it a day. Birthday parties today have metamorphosed into huge affairs with themes, complicated games and gourmet snacks. Chances are that your child would get invited to at least one party a month.
These parties provide a good opportunity to teach your child some lessons in etiquettes and how to conduct herself in a public place. The earlier this is done, the better it is for you, as it will save you the embarrassment of having to drag your bawling child from the party. This also allows your child to enjoy herself and focus on the party, rather than be pulled up for bad behavior every five minutes.
