With little babies, mommies get into the skin of little, little details. The umbilical cord stump is like a small reminder of what it felt like to have a baby in your belly. So, what happens to it after a few days? What care should be taken to ensure that it’s not infected?

The umbilical cord stump normally dries up and drops off on its own within 2-3 weeks. However, it may leave a small injury which may take some time to heal. Therefore, it is necessary to take right care to make the injury heal properly and keep infections at bay.
