She urged us to fight... to fight for a better tomorrow and a safer country for women. She may not be with us anymore, but what she has left behind is a strong desire to war for our rights. So much has happened since that fateful night when Nirbhaya was brutally gang-raped and left to die on a cold, deserted street in Delhi. As we remember the braveheart a year later, we couldn’t help but realise that nothing much has really changed. We are still begging for stricter implementation of laws, safer public transport for women and an overall women-friendly nation. Here are eight things that our nation needs right now.

December 16 marks the anniversary of the fateful day when our country saw the most shameful crime ever. Nirbhaya (the name she came to be called) was brutally gangraped by six men on a moving bus, then thrown off the vehicle and left to die. She fought a brave battle to survive, but in the end succumbed to her injuries on December 29, 2012. We salute her indomitable spirit with our Nirbhaya Tribute. Let's together strive to win this battle against injustice that she begun for us!
