A lot has been said about the safety of women in India since December 16, 2012. The question is whether we have been able to do enough to stop crimes against women. However, what is amazing to note is the fact that there has been a wave of support from various sections of the society. Mass media is a fine example when it comes to spreading the message and creating awareness about the issue. This video created by the Whistling Woods International Film School urges Indian women to take a stand and fight for their respect.
The video opens with a woman biker at a traffic signal. As she waits for the signal to turn green, two male bikers stop next to her and start leching. The same happens to a girl at a restaurant, a woman on a bus and another on a train. But interestingly these women don't sit quiet. We won't spoil it for you, rather we'll let you see for yourself how they fight back.
After watching this video, you will realise that we al l have been in similar situations just like these women at some point in our lives. The need of the hour is to fight for our rights, and our respect!
iDiva.com invites you to tell us how you think we can make India a safer place for women. Let's raise our voices, talk and act NOW to enable change. Leave us a comment below and tweet / post messages on our Facebook page with #Nirbhaya. We need your support in this fight for justice!
December 16 marks the anniversary of the fateful day when our country saw the most shameful crime ever. Nirbhaya (the name she came to be called) was brutally gangraped by six men on a moving bus, then thrown off the vehicle and left to die. She fought a brave battle to survive, but in the end succumbed to her injuries on December 29, 2012. We salute her indomitable spirit with our Nirbhaya Tribute. Let's together strive to win this battle against injustice that she begun for us!
